Achtung Baby!
You’ll likely have to drive to Moncton to get your U2 concert fix this summer.
That’s because the rumour mill is flying that the iconic Irish rock band will play at Moncton’s Magnetic Hill on July 30.
CBC News quoted a source Thursday as saying that U2’s arrival in Moncton is confirmed.
Everyone is expected to find out if the reports are true on Monday when Donald K. Donald Productions will make an announcement in the Maritime hub city, according to the website atlanticcanadarocks.ca.
Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly didn’t know if the news was true. “I’m not aware,” Kelly said when reached Thursday evening.
The mayor said other individuals are involved in luring bands to Halifax, not city officials.
“We don’t try. It would be other groups.”
Moncton hotels are apparently filling up just at the prospect the famous band is set to play. Many have reportedly sold out.
No one could be reached at the DKD productions office in Montreal on Thursday.
The Magnetic Hill concert venue has allowed the city to attract large crowds. It is estimated the Rolling Stones drew more than 78,000 people in 2005, while AC/DC attracted about 70,000 in 2009.
